Philippine Consulate in Orlando, FL
There is no Philippine consulate in Orlando, and the consulate that covers it, the Embassy of the Philippines. Consular Section in Washington, D.C., is not a casual trip: 850 miles away, about 15 h 40 min by road. That makes the order of this page deliberate: first what you can do from Orlando without travelling, then what genuinely requires the counter.
Which Philippine consulate serves Orlando
Jurisdiction runs by state, and Florida, all of it, is assigned to Washington, D.C. The same consulate covers Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, plus Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and most of the Caribbean. See the Florida page for the rest of the state's cities and distances.
At 850 miles (15 h 40 min), Orlando is far enough from Washington, D.C. that the journey is a genuine expense, not an inconvenience. Plan it around a mission if one is announced.
A local official Philippine contact is the honorary consulate in Jacksonville, which the consulate in Washington, D.C. supervises. For a passport or dual citizenship, the booking is with Washington, D.C.
Watch for consular outreach missions before committing to the full journey. Consulates travel to underserved cities with passport biometrics and dual citizenship ceremonies; the appointments cost nothing, and for somewhere this far from the consulate a mission is usually the practical route. How they are booked is in the appointment guide.
What never requires the journey
Three of the most searched Philippine procedures in the United States are not consular procedures at all:
- PSA documents, the security-paper certificates everything else depends on, are ordered online and shipped internationally.
- Apostilles: if anyone tells you to get a document "red ribboned" at the consulate, that advice predates 2019 and no longer works.
- The NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines. The fingerprint card can be done at a consulate or, the NBI says, at the nearest police station.
The counter is unavoidable for passport biometrics and the RA 9225 oath. A notarial document can also be done by a local notary with an apostille, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate. Everything else deserves a second look before you drive.
