Philippine Consulate in Chattanooga, TN
There is no Philippine consulate in Chattanooga, and the consulate that covers it, the Embassy of the Philippines. Consular Section in Washington, D.C., is not a casual trip: 598 miles away, about 11 h 5 min by road. That makes the order of this page deliberate: first what you can do from Chattanooga without travelling, then what genuinely requires the counter.
Where Chattanooga is served from
Every Philippine procedure for a Tennessee resident goes through Washington, D.C.: its district is Alabama, the District of Columbia, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Maryland, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and West Virginia, plus Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and most of the Caribbean. Distances from the other cities in the state are on the Tennessee page.
From Chattanooga the consulate is 598 miles and 11 h 5 min away by road, far enough that an outreach mission, when one is announced, is worth waiting for.
Watch for consular outreach missions before committing to the full journey. Consulates travel to underserved cities with passport biometrics and dual citizenship ceremonies; the appointments cost nothing, and for somewhere this far from the consulate a mission is usually the practical route. How they are booked is in the appointment guide.
Three procedures that skip the consulate entirely
Check this list first, it covers most of the reasons people book an appointment they did not need:
- PSA certificates, birth, marriage, death and CENOMAR are issued in Manila and ordered online, delivered to any US address.
- Apostilles on American documents come from the issuing state’s competent authority. Since 15 May 2019 the consulate cannot authenticate them.
- NBI clearance is applied for by mail to the Philippines; the NBI takes the fingerprints from a consulate or from a police station.
What does require appearing in person is your biometrics for a passport and the oath of allegiance. A special power of attorney can be signed before a consular officer or before a local notary and then apostilled, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate.
philippineconsulates.us is an independent information guide to the Philippine consulates in the United States. We are not the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Embassy or any government agency. We do not book, sell or manage appointments: every consulate runs its own system. We check the details regularly, but they can change without notice, always confirm with the consulate before you travel.
