Philippine Consulate in Kansas City, MO
Kansas City has no Philippine consulate. Consular matters here belong to the Philippine Consulate General in Chicago, 510 miles away, about 9 h 38 min by road. Before planning that journey, it is worth knowing that the most searched Philippine procedures never touch a consulate at all, and that consular outreach missions periodically bring the counter closer.
Where Kansas City is served from
Every Philippine procedure for a Missouri resident goes through Chicago: its district is Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin. Distances from the other cities in the state are on the Missouri page.
510 miles is 9 h 38 min of driving each way from Kansas City, which is why the outreach missions are worth watching here.
For distances like this, the consular outreach programme is the answer that actually gets used: consulates periodically set up temporary consular offices in cities without one, taking passports and dual citizenship oaths. Appointments are free, passport slots open at passport.gov.ph about a month before each mission, and they fill. The appointment guide explains how the schedule works.
What never requires the journey
The most common wasted journey in this system is for a document the consulate cannot produce. There are three of them:
- PSA certificates, birth, marriage, death and CENOMAR are issued in Manila and ordered online, delivered to any US address.
- An apostille is issued by the Secretary of State of whichever state produced the document. The consulate stopped authenticating on 15 May 2019.
- The NBI clearance is issued in the Philippines. The fingerprint card can be done at a consulate or, the NBI says, at the nearest police station.
The counter is unavoidable for passport biometrics and the RA 9225 oath. A notarial document can also be done by a local notary with an apostille, according to the notarial page of the Chicago consulate. Everything else deserves a second look before you drive.
philippineconsulates.us is an independent information guide to the Philippine consulates in the United States. We are not the Philippine Consulate General, the Philippine Embassy or any government agency. We do not book, sell or manage appointments: every consulate runs its own system. We check the details regularly, but they can change without notice, always confirm with the consulate before you travel.
